Christine’s life lesson #365: NEVER (ever) place a bid (on anything) with the anticipation of being outbid!
As I mentioned (in my previous post), last night I attended the Red Dot Auction to benefit the Chuck Jones Center for Creativity in Costa Mesa. My amazing and super talented friend, Andrea, donated two great paintings (both which sold for a total of $500 WHOO HOO). I placed a bid on 3 items; one was an absolute must have (I stalked the section until the bidding closed) and the other 2 were nice to haves – but I totally thought I would be outbid. Hmm, not so much!
I am now the proud owner of 3 great pieces (picture below for your viewing pleasure)! I will not lie, I was somewhat panicking about having to actually pay for my winnings, but I did have the intelligence to bid what I could cover! A nice & handsome gentleman (who might have been single <I didn’t see a ring>) told me that “this clearly means something amazing is about to happen”. I love it and I truly believe it (hmm no ring? Maybe I should have hit on him? After all I DID buy another guy a drink so he would NOT bid on the piece I really wanted).
I know an amazing memory was created last night! My purchase was for an amazing cause and I honestly have no regrets! Now I just need Andrea to come over and help me hang them (they are currently hung with a push pin <please don’t cringe Andrea, I am sorry I didn’t trust my skills to nail them in!>).
Can you guess which piece below was my MUST have piece? Please comment or email me your guess at Christine@cupcakingchristine.com
