As you know, May 2015 marked a new chapter for me with “The Move”. Last Friday I finally officially turned the page! I returned my Encinitas apartment keys to my old landlord! Something I had been trying to do for a full week since I moved.
It was a great feeling! As much as I hated leaving Encinitas I was so ready to say buh-bye to my old landlord and move on!
I did not get my full deposit back, which was a total shock to me! Granted I have only had one landlord before (yay Pedro, Lodi NJ!<I still want you to buy rental property in North County I will handle all of the details>), so I was not expecting the “shenanigans” that came into play last week. I am so super thankful I have LegalShield and CA’s top law firm was literally a phone call away! I had a very detailed discussion with an attorney who specializes in CA tenant law – he explained all of my rights to me! I cannot tell you how invaluable this service is to me! I have decided not to move forward even though the law is on my side; I just don’t have the energy to fight for this cause – gotta pick your battles!
I am settling into my new home well! I just got a new bookcase today (oh what an adventure it was – it is a blog within itself!) and I am working on purchasing a new desk! I have a friend helping put together a bathroom cabinet and then I am left with 1 box of towels and all of my wall stuff! I am really excited!
I am feeling more and more at home every day! I am LOVING living on the 1st floor! Despite the fact that I think every noise at night is someone breaking in or plotting my murder, I love it! I actually walk to the garbage JUST to take the garbage out! I don’t plan it around me leaving! If I leave something in the car I don’t hesitate to go get it! And I am more than happy to make 2 trips from the car when needed!!! (have I mentioned I absolutely HATE stairs?!) Even my “shy” neighbors are starting to smile more as I insist on saying “HI” all of the time!!
I am really excited to embark on this next chapter! I am focusing on a work life balance. I am praying for guidance and endurance! And I am focusing on what I am passionate about! I am taking action in some areas that I know God wants me to move in and it is super exciting! A tad intimidating but still exciting!
As I officially kiss this last chapter buh-bye, I do so with the utmost gratitude! Despite the 9 months of no job I have truly enjoyed the 1st 2 years in Southern California! To say it has been LIFE CHANGING is putting it lightly! I am over the moon excited to see what God has planned for this next chapter!!
