As a new year, with new goals & aspirations is upon us I thought it was fitting to do a year in review and look at the milestones for the past year.
It is pretty intense because when I go on my memory of 2015 what comes to mind is: “working long hours and loss”. Let me dig through journals and pictures to see how on point I am.
2015 was a year of reflection and change.
you can check here Jan/Feb
The energy struggle began. Stress began wreaking havoc on me. Working long hours resulted in major lack of energy and focus. (déjà vu).
Feb also included my first 2015 business trip to Lexington.
my company March
My first NON funeral related trip back to Jersey! While it was a mix of business and pleasure I did make the most of the pleasure part! I got to spend quality time with my besties and see a bunch of people! Sadly, there was no Rod’s during this visit (still dying, still wanting a shipment).
March also included a last minute business trip to Vegas. Which was successful and Fun!
There was also a ton of frantic apartment hunting happening in March! Oh, and a LOT of stress!!!!!!
Passover in Long Beach was amazing! Jeff is a phenomenal cook!
It was also my 2 year Caliversary! A super exciting milestone!!!
April also included a trip to Lexington (pattern to begin here) and my first time to Keanland. I LOVED the opportunity to bond with colleagues outside of the office! This trip also included dinner at the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce “Best places of KY to work” – very exciting
Oh May. I moved in May. Moving is always uber stressful! Working insane hours and moving is even worse! I am blessed to have amazing friends who helped me pack!
May also included the “Week of Prayer” at my church which was so awesome to participate in.
Sadly, May also included the passing of Aunt Betty. Something that I am still not truly over. Loosing Aunt Betty who was my Godmother and 2nd mom really hits almost as hard as losing my mom! However, it also included reconciling with my sister! Something I am OVER THE MOON about (thank you, Aunt Betty!)!!!
June included a mini staycation for me, myself and I at Harrahs San Diego! What an AMAZING weekend I had! Spending my days in the sun, reading with a frozen cocktail making lots of friends! And spending my evenings socializing, making friends and going to a concert! I had a wonderful trip and I highly encourage EVERYONE to travel ALONE at least once in your life! Even if it is a driving destination.
June was also the month that I was sick with a chronic sinus infection and who knows what else for the ENTIRE month! I don’t miss June!
I did not really do much for 4 of July, unless you include working!
July also included a trip to Lexington (are you seeing the pattern?). Lexington also means stocking up on local KY beer!!
July also included a 90 day worship challenge at work which inspired me to begin a daily prayer journal! And helped me to pray out loud in a group setting!
My birthday month!!!!! Yippie! I had a bunch of fun celebrations with my close friends!
I am pretty sure there were also some crazy work hours throughout Aug
99% of my weekends in the Summer of 2015 were spent at my pool with a (fluff) book and a cocktail (or two)! Sept also Included another Lexington trip for our staff retreat! It also included a business trip to Houston! I believe that was the start of my Fall Travel Blitz!
The Lex trip also included a double baby shower for 2 dear colleagues!
Sept also included the sad passing of my cousin, Denise. May you RIP, you are gone way too soon!
Included my first LIFEgroup leaders dinner. Deb gave us amazing gifts to symbolize our Christianity! And, it was amazing to put so many faces to names!
Oct also included one of my first opportunities to participate in a business development pitch! And I had a fairly big role (talk about getting outside of your comfort zone and LOVING it!)
Oct ended with a Montreal trip! It was mostly business but I was able to eat a lot of amazing food with great colleagues! I truly adore my team @ work; I am not sure I have ever had such a strong bond with colleagues before! #blessed
Ohhh I did squeeze in time to glitter some pumpkins!
Oh November! It was full of chaos, travel and a lot of long hours! Nov started with 4 days in Lexington and then a tour of San Antonio and Austin. I am pretty sure I was traveling for over 10 or so days! There were a lot of great memories made with my colleagues!
Nov was also Thanksgiving time! I had yet another delicious Thanksgiving in Long Beach with my SoCal family!! We even made a baked Alaska!!
Nov is always a rough, rough time, as it is the anniversary of my mother passing and her birthday. This Nov took a look twist with a couple of business development opportunities. Yup, getting out of that public speaking comfort zone!
Wow I am pretty sure I blinked and Dec is gone! Oh wait I think I worked it away!
Dec included my 1 year anniversary at my job! Yippie!!! After 2014 this is a HUGE milestone! I am so happy!
Dec was Passover (yumm Latke’s) and the Long Beach Boat Parade!!! Sadly I drove up and back for both events and couldn’t make a weekend of it. But life is about prioritizing and compromising! I was able to still keep my super fun dates and meet my work deadlines! The Boat Parade is one of my most favorite SoCal traditions and something I did for about 4 years BEFORE moving here!
I also made a phenomenal Beef Wellington and Champagne Risotto for Christmas Eve! A super proud cooking moment!
While I end 2015 on a tired, overwhelmed note, I am still over the moon grateful for all it has brought!! I am truly blessed!!!
I am excited for 2016 and the endless possibilities it holds! I know God has a plan for me and it is way better than any plan I could imagine for myself! In 2016, I am focusing on a work life balance, more opportunities/possibilities for my real estate investing business, more time to be social, dating and love, more opportunities to serve and help others, the possibilities to inspire/motivate others, and more opportunities to grow in my Faith.
I am spending NYE home with Gateau. I have champagne, wine, and lobster! I am ending 2015 overwhelmed and tired, I was not really up for anything big. I wanted to end the year on a low key, relaxing note! And as silly as it sounds, I really wanted to spend time with Gateau; I feel like I have not been such a great mamma over the past few months. There is really nowhere else I would rather be tonight. I am wishing you all a WONDERFUL 2016! I hope all of your dreams come true!
