My 1st Caliversary! One Year of SoCal Living!

April 4, 2013……I arrive at EWR (Newark International Airport) with 2 large (and heavy) suitcases, one large (and heavy) carry on, my pocketbook, Gateau in a travel carrier, and a one way first class (of course) ticket to San Diego (I am not known for packing light – ever)! I was full of excitement and STRESS! I couldn’t wait to check the 2 big (and heavy) suitcases and just get through security! Having to take the Gateau OUT of his carrier in security was not part of my plan, thank God Gateau had taken kitty Xanax to help him deal with the big move, I should have followed suit! Seriously, taking a cat out of its carrier is NOT the brightest idea – when cats want to run they RUN! The security debacle was soon forgotten once the bartender popped the bubbles in the United Club! Cheers to my new book of life!

Moving to SoCal has been something I have wanted to do ever since my very first trip to Long Beach in 2006! I flew out as a surprise “gift” for my dear friend’s baby shower and I KNEW this is where I was meant to live! I will always be a Jersey Girl, but SoCal had my heart and soul, and some of the most inspirational and motivational friends I have ever had (you know who you are!)!

Fast forward to TODAY, April 4, 2014! Today marks my ONE YEAR of living in San Diego! #iliveherenow (#droppingthenowasoftoday).  There is a part of me that feels like I have lived here forever, and another part that feels like my flight just touched down!

The past 365 days have been a whirlwind; new home; new litter box for the Gateau; new town, new, new, new (don’t ask) job; new highways – oops freeways; new craft beer (yay); new EVERYTHING!  I knew moving to California would be a huge life transformation and I embraced every aspect of it!

The life that I have created in the past year is astonishing! The friendships I have built are breathtaking! The lessons I have learned are invaluable! The obstacles and challenges I have tackled head on make me proud! My experience is everything I have imagined! Hmm, ok, with the exception of losing my job last month (don’t freak out, I am remaining positive, it is ALL good, I am on to the next chapter of my career and I am embracing the change).  I am so blessed to be here in this moment, in this space, right here, right now! I am so grateful I don’t even have the words to truly express my gratitude!

As I begin this new chapter in my life I want to take a moment to thank EVERYONE (and you know who you are) who traveled down this road with me. I have the most amazing support system in my life, I am so grateful for my family and friends who have been by my side during this journey called life. Buckle up and enjoy the ride!!!

I hope you will continue to follow my journey. I hope my positive approach to life will help you in some way, shape or form!

Welcome Home!
